Privacy Policy

We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal information. This policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your data.

Information We Collect

We collect information you provide directly to us, such as when you submit video reactions, create an account, contact us for support, or interact with our services. This may include:

  • Account information (email address, nickname, hashed(password)) when you sign up
  • YouTube video URLs and metadata (titles, channels, thumbnails)
  • Email addresses when you contact us for support
  • Hashed(IP addresses) when you submit reactions
  • Usage data and interactions with our website

IP Address Collection: When you submit a reaction, we collect your IP address which is immediately secured using cryptographic hashing. This hashed data cannot be used to identify you personally. We process this information based on our legitimate interests under Article 6(1)(f) GDPR to prevent fraud, abuse, and spam on our platform.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide and improve our reaction finding services
  • Prevent fraud, abuse, duplicate submissions, and spam
  • Respond to your support requests
  • Analyze usage patterns to enhance user experience
  • Ensure the security and integrity of our platform

Notification System & Request Tracking

When you track videos or channels to receive notifications, we collect and process information to provide you with updates when new reactions become available.

Email Collection & Usage

We collect your email address when you:

  • Track a video for notification updates (available to both logged-in and non-logged users)
  • Track an entire channel for notification updates (logged-in users only)

Your email is used solely for sending notification updates. You can unsubscribe from any tracked video or channel at any time through your dashboard or via links in notification emails.

Public Request Counts

We display aggregated tracking counts publicly on our "Most Requested Reactions" and "Most Tracked Channels" pages (e.g., "47 people are tracking this video"). These counts help content creators discover what their audience wants to see. No personal information (names, emails, or identifying data) is ever displayed publicly—only anonymous aggregate counts.

IP-Based Rate Limiting

For non-logged users who track videos, we collect and hash your IP address to prevent abuse and spam. This hashed data cannot be used to identify you personally and is automatically deleted periodically. We process this based on our legitimate interests under Article 6(1)(f) GDPR to maintain platform security and quality.

Rate Limits:

  • Non-logged users: 10 tracking requests per hour per IP address, 1 active tracked video per email
  • Logged-in users: Unlimited tracking, no IP restrictions

Your Control

You have full control over your notification preferences:

  • Untrack videos or channels anytime from your dashboard or via email links
  • Choose between instant email notifications or daily digest
  • Disable email notifications entirely while keeping in-app notifications
  • Delete your account and all associated tracking data

Non-logged users: When you untrack a video, your data is immediately and permanently deleted. Logged-in users: Tracking history is retained for analytics but marked as inactive. You can request full deletion by contacting support.

Data Retention

We retain notification-related data as follows:

  • Active tracking requests: Until you untrack or delete your account
  • In-app notifications: Indefinitely (can be deleted manually)
  • IP rate limit data: Periodically purged for privacy
  • Email notification logs: 30 days for troubleshooting, then deleted

Data Storage & Security

We implement appropriate security measures to protect your information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. Your data is stored securely and is not shared with third parties except as necessary to provide our services.
